Epidemiology/Infectious Disease
Reporting Requirements
WEDCO District Health Department monitors and responds to communicable diseases across Harrison, Nicholas, and Scott Counties. Our Epidemiology team works to detect illness early, investigate sources, and prevent the spread of disease—helping to keep our communities safe and informed.
Disease surveillance allows us to track illness trends in the region, identify outbreaks, guide emergency planning and response efforts, and ultimately improve public health outcomes.
Kentucky Law 902 KAR 2:020 – all physicians, hospitals, laboratories, and other healthcare providers are legally required to report suspected or confirmed cases of infectious and communicable diseases to the local health department serving the patient’s county of residence.
