Pediatric Head Trauma Prevention

Previously known as Shaken Baby Syndrome, Pediatric Abusive Head Trauma remains a leading cause of injury and death in babies under 2. WEDCO leads education efforts to empower caregivers to recognize, prevent, and respond to infant crying and caregiver stress — the most common triggers for abusive head trauma.

Our Team’s Role

Our team:

  • Distributes educational materials to over 20 partner organizations
  • Offers digital, print, and video resources in multiple languages
  • Connects families with The Period of PURPLE Crying® tools
  • Shares calm-down strategies and safe caregiver tips
  • Highlights warning signs and when to seek help

We also educate teens, parents, and child care providers using resources from the CDC, PCAKY, and local providers — always with empathy and inclusion at the core.
