Safe Sleep for Community Partners

Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) and other sleep-related deaths are preventable. WEDCO works with trusted community partners to provide families with evidence-based, culturally appropriate safe sleep materials — helping babies sleep safely from day one.

This program emphasizes the ABCDs of safe sleep: Alone, on their Back, in a Crib, and away from Danger.

Our Team’s Role

Our team distributes print and digital toolkits and trains partners on how to best educate caregivers — especially those in kinship care, fathers, and multilingual households. We promote state and national campaigns such as:

  • NIH Safe to Sleep®, Safe Sleep Kentucky, and Cribs for Kids
  • Social media outreach like the #ClearTheCrib Challenge
  • Trainings like the Safe Sleep Ambassador Program

This work is especially important during SIDS Awareness Month (October), but our team conducts outreach all year long.
